Pilates is a system of exercises developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th Century. Pilates called his regime “Contrology” and beleived that the connection between mind and body is paramount to acheiving the goal of improved health.  

The original six principles of concentration, control, center, flow, precision, and breathing have stood the test of time and are at the root what makes Pilates a successful method of transforming the body.  With an emphasis on alignment and developing a strong core, Pilates is beneficial for all levels. 

There are a wide range of exercises ranging from gentle enough for people living with physical limitations to highly challenging for elite athletes.  It is both therapuetic and educational, which makes it a perfect method for seniors and kids.  The exercises are thought provoking and uniquely challenging to the individual, which makes it both engaging and fun. 

I believe in the power of the original Pilates regime, often referred to a Classical Pilates, though I also understand that nothing is one size fits all.  Many years of teaching and learning experience with different populations have broadened my understanding of how to modify and adapt the system to fit the clients needs. I take in to account your goals while addressing imbalances and habits that may be impeding your progress. 

My Pilates studio is located in the E. Mt Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia. It is large bright airy room and is fully quipped with the Pilates Apparatus.
